Substitute Teacher

As a Substitute Teacher at Gifted Early Learning Academy, you’ll help to create an enriching environment for students as they explore and learn through our Gifted Program that nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical development.

Substitute teachers are responsible for assisting teachers with general classroom management and supervision, which includes the personal care, hygiene, and positive discipline of the children in the teacher's absence. Substitutes implement daily plans and schedules left by teachers. This position is for both our Lafayette and Broussard locations!
Responsibilities

Supervises and manages daily functions for a class of children

Observes all rules and regulations at Gifted Early Learning Academy and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children

Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.

Manage classroom behaviors in a positive and nurturing manner

Accepts responsibility for necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.

Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.

Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered by the Gifted Early Learning Program Policies

Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary.
Qualifications

Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position

Clean Criminal Background Check

Classroom teaching experience in an early childhood facility

Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality

Highly professional and dependable

Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
